Requisitos de acesso

Applicants to this doctoral programme have to comply with one of the following situations: a) Holders of a Master degree or legal equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Informatics Engineering or or any other related area; b) Holders of a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Informatics Engineering, or any other related area, with at least 5 years of academic training in Higher Education; d) Holders of an academic, scientific and professional curriculum vitae that the Technical-Scientific Council of the school that awards the degree recognised as attesting the ability to complete this cycle of studies.

180 ECTS credits (30 per semester), with 1 credit corresponding to 27 hours. This includes the Thesis Project with 54 credits and the Thesis with 60 credits

Principais resultados da aprendizagem

The degree of Doctor in Intelligent Systems Engineering is awarded to students who demonstrate, in this field, the ability to: - Develop innovation and research capacity from a perspective of internationalization and strengthening of national technological capacity in the multidisciplinary area of Intelligent Systems Engineering, aligned with digital transformation and including, among others, electronics, automation and robotics, cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and cybersecurity. - Formulate research questions in relation to a research problem, as well as identify, develop, and use methodologies appropriate to addressing the questions raised, with a view to obtaining original solutions to the problem under study; - Evaluate the merits and shortcomings of the solutions found, both in absolute terms and in comparison with alternative solutions; - Promote skills in presenting and discussing, orally and in writing, their conclusions, and the knowledge and reasoning underlying them, to both specialists and non-specialists, in a clear and unambiguous manner.
